Grease Removal from Masonry Surfaces
Grease spills are dangerous slip hazards and pose serious health and environmetal risks. They can be difficult to remove because depending on the consistency of the gease it can soak into the surface as well as create a thick layer on top that spreads when cleaning commences.
Unfortunately it only takes one incorrect process to permanently stain many surfaces. It is important that grease is removed from the surface as soon as possible to prevent deep penetration. If you are unfortunate enough to sustain a spill, cover the area with sand, saw dust or kitty litter to soak up as much grease as possible. Our team can clean this up and dispose of responsibly on arrival.
The Process
A three step chemical solution is used to breakdown and remove the grease.
Step 1 - Trace in and dissolve the molecular structure of the grease.
Step 2 - Suspend the grease in situ preventing further absorption.
Step 3 - Draw the grease in suspended chemical solution to the surface.
The grease is then removed from the surface using heated water under pressure and the entire area neutralised and deep cleaned.
It is important to note that the surface must be dry for the process to work effectively and depending on the age of the grease spill and the level of absorption, a slight stain mark can remain that does fade over a few weeks of UV light from the sun.
Grease is generally easier to remove than oil because it tends to sit on the top of surfaces due to its consistency. A similar process to that of oil is used.

Oil and Grease Removal off Steel and Manufacturing Equipment
One of our manufacturing clients had some finished steel delivered from China. It had been covered in oil to protect it from corrosion during shipping. By the time it landed in Australia, it had become contaminated by dirt and was sticky, making the product unsaleable.
The steel strips were 6m long and as there were 1950 of them, it was nearly 12 km of cleaning required. After conducting tests on the best method of removal, we then designed an efficient cleaning process that fitted within our client's tight budget.
The cleaning system had to transport, store, stack, move, clean and dry the steel sections in an economical manner taking into consideration minimising our handling time, water usage, waste water generated and safe waste water disposal.
The results of the cleaning speak for themselves. The Stain Eaters are perfectly set up to cater for this kind of work. With the correct chemical application, correct method of cleaning, all the right procedures in place to protect the environment, right equipment and training, these jobs run smoothly on time and budget.
Our Service Restoration Vehicles (SRV) have all the right equipment on board to conduct these kinds of jobs at a moment's notice and can be diverted when on the road at any time to help you with these cleaning issues.
Our team enjoys getting our teeth into these type of cleaning challenges!

The building cleaning industry is not fully regulated and there are unscrupulous characters doing very average work in an unsafe manner. These photos illustrate the type of shoddy work we often have to repair.
